- Abstract
The article discusses a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials comparing invasive and conservative strategies for older patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). The analysis found that while an initial invasive strategy did not significantly reduce the primary endpoint of all-cause mortality and myocardial infarction (MI) at one year, it was associated with a reduced risk of recurrent MI and urgent revascularization. The study also highlights the need for more clinical trial data focusing on older patients and emphasizes the importance of considering age and gender biases in treatment decisions. Overall, the findings suggest that older patients with NSTE-ACS should be managed similarly to younger patients, following recent European Society of Cardiology guidelines.
