- Abstract
Recently calved cows (<0-2 months) were subjected to blood BHBA estimation and animals with blood BHBA level less than 1000 µmol/L were considered as negative for sub-clinical ketosis and were assigned in Group I (control group), whereas blood BHBA level between the range of 1400-2500 µmol/L were selected as positive for sub-clinical ketosis, assigned to Group II and subjected for treatment. Hematological parameters namely TEC, TLC and thrombocytes count were within the physiological limits before and after treatment, whereas hemoglobin values were significantly decreased in sub-clinical ketosis cows and became normal after treatment. The blood BHBA values in sub-clinical ketosis animals were significantly higher before treatment and significantly decreased after treatment. The biochemical parameters namely glucose, calcium, total protein and albumin were significantly decreased before treatment which became normal after treatment, whereas, AST and GGT activities which were significantly higher in sub-clinical ketosis group before treatment reduced significantly after treatment. The combination of Gluconeogenic precursor, Nicotinamide and Cyanocobalamin was found efficacious in treatment of sub-clinical ketosis in cattle.
