- Abstract
Within the massive collection of the newly published "Collected Anthologies of Qing Poems and Other Writings," there is a collection of poems written by Wu Weiye (1609 to 1671), which is called "Meicun jia cang gao" -- Drafts from the home of Plum Village -- "plum village" being the sobriquet of Wu Weiye. It is an edition dated to 1911. This article discusses the contributions of Wu Weiye to the Ming-Qing transition and the cultural and intellectual milieu of that period. The first section of the article describes Wu Weiye’s biographical background and the various editions of his writings. The second section discusses the 1911 edition. The third section discusses Wu Weiye’s contributions.
