- Title
THE PLAINVIEW POINT: A BRIEF SUMMARY.
- Authors
AGOGINO, GEORGE; DUGUID, JAMES
- Abstract
The article presents information on a style of Native American projectile point called Plainview, found throughout North America. It is thought that this style appeared by 9450 BCE and was developed from the earlier Clovis points. Artifacts from the Plainview tradition have been found in association with the Meserve and Milnesand styles of projectile points. The Plainview techniques were generally superseded by Archaic point manufacturing methods sometime around 4950 BCE. A description of the shape of these stone implements is provided. Archaeological evidence of Native American bison hunting during the Paleoindian era is also noted.
