This article presents information about the commissioned memorial sculpture of Jamaican musician Bob Marley done by Jamaican sculptor Christopher Gonzalez. The article also discusses reasons why the sculpture was denied by the commission and speculates about why Gonzalez may have created the sculpture in its particular style. Gonzalez's sculpture, although denied, was on display at the National Gallery of Jamaica for 20 years before it was moved to its present location to Island Village, Ocho Rios.
