- Title
Optical antennas: Tuning in to optical wavelengths.
- Authors
Kino, Gordon
- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of making a mechanically tunable, optically resonant nanoantenna for subwavelength concentration of light to investigate and fabricate nanostructures by optical lithography or obtain nonlinear effects. It describes how researcher Jörg Merlein and co-workers, from the University of Konstanz, Konstanz, Germany, made an antenna by placing glass spheres in contact on a silica substrate and depositing gold through the triangular spaces formed in between.
