- Abstract
The article presents a reprint of the article "WWII Pilot defeated German and Japanese Foes - Ace Played Role when San Diego became Naval Aviation" by Peter Rowe and John Wilkens, which appeared in the October 27, 2012 issue of "U-T San Diego." The article focuses on Dean Laird who is known as the only U.S. Navy ace to shoot down both German and Japanese planes during WWII and has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross medal. It also highlights the airbase in San Diego, California.
