- Abstract
This bibliographic review seeks to provide broad and clear information on the possible risks to which women may be exposed throughout their menstrual cycle having contact with different compounds with endocrine disruption activity, which are in the sanitary pads. Companies marketing intimate hygiene products, over the years and the evolution of technologies, innovate in features, such as the use of fragrances, size and presentation to the public; but have left behind details such as the quality of raw materials and their thorough review that within their multiple tasks aims to identify the presence of endocrine disruptors. In the long term, this situation could contribute to the deterioration of the health of the female population, stressing that companies are not obliged to present the components of these intimate products to the public. Given that this product is one of the most used in the world by the female population, the communication of possible negative health effects that endocrine disruptors can cause becomes extremely urgent. Health conditions include early onset of menopause, possible fertility problems, and cancer.
