- Abstract
In this essay, we examine: How should the intersections of Obama, post-racialism and diversity shape current and future strategies aimed at increasing the representation of Black faculty in academia? This article aims to extend the conversation of post-racialism in the Obama era into higher education, with an explicit focus on the Black professoriate. The central argument in this conceptual piece is that post-racial thinking is potentially dangerous in higher education, given the recent shift from minority access to diversity and inclusion. The authors examine the limitations of post-racial thought within higher education and offer suggestions for re-articulating faculty diversity efforts
