- Abstract
The article discusses the methods of specimen collection for the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). According to the authors, the correct method of specimen collection facilitates in achieving desirable goals in the laboratory diagnosis of STIs. They stress that if simple precautions are taken, it will avert spurious results. They also note that the collection of specimens and use of the appropriate swab and transport media are critical in the success of tissue culture.
