- Title
A DESIGN FOR PRE-SERVICE SCIENCE TEACHER EDUCATION.
- Authors
Koran Jr., John J.
- Abstract
The article discusses attempts to identify new and promising ways of educating science teachers in both elementary and secondary schools in the U.S. The advent and availability of the new science curricula in elementary and secondary schools have necessitated a look at science teacher education. Preliminary evidence suggests that science teachers must be prepared through a given set of curriculum materials when they teach and direct themselves to serious questions regarding learning, teaching and nature of instruction in science. Teacher education programs must focus their attention not only on influencing teachers behavior but also on modifying teacher performance which can facilitate students learning of essential concepts. This approach represents a way to address the problem of educating pre-service teachers for future.
