- Title
"The Idea of It": Wallace Stevens and Edmund Husserl.
- Authors
Naylor, Paul Kenneth
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "Notes Toward a Supreme Fiction," by Wallace Stevens. It compares the use of the term "idea" in the poem with the use of the same term in the book "Ideas" by philosopher Edmund Husserl. The author analyzes the ontology and phenomenology of the term "idea" in Stevens' works and suggests that Stevens is more aligned with the philosophy of Husserl than of philosopher Martin Heidegger.
