- Title
CORRELATION BETWEEN PERFORMANCE IN PHYSICS AND PRIOR MATHEMATICS KNOWLEDGE.
- Authors
Hudson, H. T.; Rottmann, Ray M.
- Abstract
The article discusses the link between pre-professional physics course with performance on a precourse diagnostic test of mathematical skills among the final grade of students enrolled in the first semester of the course in the U.S. A "projected final grade" based on performance up to date of withdrawal was assigned by drops. Prior mathematical ability has a primary influence on performance in the course and it has a secondary influence on the tendency to drop out of the course. 0.148 is the Pearson product-moment correlation for students who completed the course.
