- Abstract
The article reviews the effects of estrogen regulation on both human and rodent endometium, with special emphasis on the regulation of uterine growth and cell proliferation. The role of estrogen in the regeneration and growth of the endometrium prior to ovulation is explained. The outcome and interpretation of global gene profiling studies are discussed to better understand the said process. Charts are presented which show cell cycle regulators expressed in late proliferative versus menstrual phase endometrium and genes in uteri of overiectomized mice.
