- Abstract
The article discusses the prevalence of prescription opioid pain medications use in adult population in Utah in 2008. The state's Department of Health has conducted a survey through its Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) to assess how residents get and use prescription medication. It also cites the set of guidelines issued by the department to lower morbidity, mortality and disability related to the prescription drug misuse or abuse, specifically narcotics.
