- Abstract
This study was set to investigate the effects of different nutrition supports in patients with cancer chemotherapy. 68 patients with cancer chemotherapy were selected from Enshi central hospital between January 2011 and June 2013, and divided into enteral nutrition support therapy group (44 cases) and parenteral group (24 cases) according to their nutritional support. Body mass index (BMI), nitrogen balance, serum albumin level, adverse reactions, chemotherapy compliance, and leukocyte count before and after chemotherapy were observed in the two groups of patients. There was no statistical difference among all the clinical factors in the two groups before treatment ( P > 0.05). After two courses of chemotherapy, BMI, albumin (ALB), and nitrogen balance changed significantly ( P < 0.05). In parenteral group, ALB and nitrogen balance reduced significantly ( P < 0.05). Adverse reactions, chemotherapy compliance, and leukocyte drop after chemotherapy all showed significant changes ( P < 0.05). Enteral nutrition support therapy can effectively improve malnutrition in patients with cancer chemotherapy, and can improve the immunity and chemotherapy compliance, reduce adverse reactions, which is the ideal nutrition support therapy.
