- Abstract
A 1 × 7 microstrip linear antenna array has been designed with parasitic patches in the 28.0 GHz sub-millimetre wave frequency band for fifth-generation mobile communication. A relatively large bandwidth and gain region has been investigated between a separation distance of 0.07λg in a two layer electromagnetically coupled rectangular patch antenna The one dimensional linear array was fabricated and measured to have an impedance bandwidth of <-14.7 dB in a 2.1 GHz range; which is comparable with commercial designs but with reduced design complexity. Side-lobe levels were realised at <-18.31 dB with antenna gains of up to 14.71 dBi.
