- Abstract
The incidence of diseases transmitted by Aedes aegypti L. has plagued Brazil and many other countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the United States and Europe in recent decades. Specifically Dengue, in Brazil, is a disease considered a serious public health problem, due to the high rates of incidence and morbidity and mortality. The mosquito is still related to other arboviruses, a serious public health problem and difficult to control such as yellow fever, Chikungunya and with special attention to cases of microcephaly in babies whose mothers are infected with the Zika virus. The lack of information and digital data about the mosquito and its pathologies has been an impediment for public health agencies to optimize and plan strategic actions to combat the mosquito and, consequently, the pathologies transmitted by this vector. The objective was to develop technology to automate the entire process of recording and analyzing data related to the vector and associated diseases. In this context, the authors of the research project developed a technological tool consisting of an application and an integrated internet system, named MapAedes, which allows the Health Agent to carry out the exact georeferencing of the visited place and the marking of the different types of occurrences such as the occurrence of larvae, mosquitoes and people with the pathologies duly confirmed by the health system, each one being registered with a different color marker to allow easy visual distinction. MapAedes is equipped with a system for querying information, reports and graphs, allowing the health manager to generate the data that health agents register via a mobile application in the database, enabling health agencies to develop strategic and organized planning in the vector control and prevention of its consequences. The system was tested in the municipalities of Campo Grande and Água Clara, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and had positive results in terms of its ease of use and intuitiveness, obtaining the approval of both Health Agents and managers. MapAedes proposed planning and development in order to allow portability, and therefore can be used as a solution for any type of vectors and pathologies.
