- Abstract
In this paper, a damage simulation model of a gravity dam in southwest China is established. The effects of near fault pulsed ground motions on the damage characteristics of gravity dam are studied from the perspective of damage degree, displacement response and energy consumption characteristics. The results show that the damage degree, displacement response and energy dissipation characteristics of the gravity dam after the near-fault pulsed ground motion are more significant than those of the non-pulsed ground motion, indicating that the near-fault pulsed ground motion will cause more serious damage to the gravity dam, which should be paid more attention to in the seismic design of gravity dam.
