- Abstract
The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different doses of compound probiotics on growth performance, diarrhea rate, intestinal microbial population and nutrient apparent digestibility of 'Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire' three-way weaned piglets. A total of 150 21-day-old weaned piglets with body weight of about 7.0 kg were randomly divided into five treatment groups with three replicates in each group and 10 piglets in each replicate. Weaned piglets were divided into experimental diets containing 0 (control group), 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.8% compound probiotics. The experiment lasted for 4 w. The results showed that compared with control group, 0.2% and 0.4% compound probiotics could effectively increase the final weight of weaned piglets (P<0.05) and decrease the ratio of feed to gain (P<0.05). Compound probiotics extremely decreased the diarrhea rate of piglets (P<0.01). Compared with control group, the supplementation of 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.8% compound probiotics significantly increased the number of Lactobacillus in jejunum and cecum of weaned piglets (P<0.05), and the supplementation of compound probiotics significantly decreased the number of Escherichia coli in jejunum and cecum of weaned piglets (P<0.05). Compared with control group, the dietary supplementation of compound probiotics significantly increased the apparent digestibility of gross energy, dry matter, crude protein and ether extract of weaned piglets (P<0.05), and the dietary supplementation of 0.4% compound probiotics significantly increased the digestibility of crude fiber of weaned piglets (P<0.05). The experiment indicates that compound probiotics can effectively improve the growth performance of weaned piglets, reduce the diarrhea rate, increase the number of beneficial bacteria, reduce the number of harmful bacteria, and improve the digestibility of feed nutrients. The optimal additive amount for compound probiotics is 0.4%.
