- Abstract
In order to study the speed distribution characteristics and types of vehicle classification methods of different types of vehicles on mountainous expressways, based on the ETC data of the main line of Shuijiang-Nanpeng section of Baotou-Maoming Expressway, from the aspects of probability distribution, cumulative frequency distribution and eigenvalue, the travel speed characteristics of all types of vehicle from the ETC system in the gentle section and in the continuous downhill section was analyzed. With the average speed and standard deviation as clustering indicators, the K-means clustering method was uesd to clustere different types of vehicle. The results show these as follows. The speed of passenger cars is concentrated at about 80 km / h and trucks is concentrated at about 70 km / h in the gentle section, while the vehicles in the continuous downhill section show low speed, the speed of passenger cars is concentrated at about 70 km / h and trucks is concentrated at about 60 km / h. The speed distribution of type 3 passenger cars and type 4 passenger cars tend to maintain the speed at a stable amplitude in the gentle section, while tend to approach the desired speed in the continuous downhill section. The speed distribution of passenger cars in the gentle section is relatively scattered, and the speed distribution in the continuous downhill section is relatively concentrated, while the speed distribution trend of trucks is just the opposite. The speed dispersion of the continuous downhill section is greater than that of the gentle section, the accidents probability increases. There are obvious differences in the speed distribution of different types of vehicles in the same road section, the speed distribution characteristic indexes of some types of vehicles show some aggregation, which indicate the speed distribution of some types of vehicles has great similarity. The flat road models are clustered into four categories: type 1 passenger cars, type 2 passenger cars and type 1 trucks, type 3 passenger cars and type 4 passenger cars, type 2 ~ 6 trucks; the continuous downhill sections are clustered into three categories: type 1 passenger cars and type 3 passenger cars and type 4 passenger cars, type 2 passenger cars and type 1 trucks, type 2 ~ 6 trucks. A basis is provided for the refinement speed management of mountain highway vehicles and the formulation of speed limit schemes for vehicles of the same category.
