- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Erasure" by Percival Everett is presented. It examines the political traditions of African-American urban literature borrowed from novelists Chester Himes, Richard Wright and Ralph Ellison, as well as the racial divisions of urban society. Insights into the challenges of political critique within the confines of consumer culture are also presented.
