- Title
Melted Diamonds Point the Way to Nuclear Fusion.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effect of high temperature on diamond sheets conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratory. The aim of the experiment is to understand the characteristics of diamond under the extreme pressure of a nuclear fusion reaction. The researchers used the Z machine accelerator at Sandia and the one at the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Another objective of the researchers is to develop a capsule ablator with low atomic number.
