- Abstract
The flat foot term is used to describe any abnormality that causes the collapse of the medial longitudinal arch of the foot, when it is symptomatic it conditions the degree, type and quality of physical activity practiced an adult. We propose to review the existing conservative treatments for flat foot in young adults and of middleaged. A systematic review of the published scientific literature on flat foot and conservative treatments was carried out. For its preparation, the guidelines of the PRISMA declaration have been followed. The conservative treatments used for flat foot are applied unique or in combination, these include strengthening exercises, stretching, wear orthotics devices, taping application, footwear modification and electrical stimulation. Conservative treatment studies in young adults and of middle-aged with symptomatic flat foot are required to evaluate the short- and long-term effect of protocols current in populations with different levels of physical condition.
