The article discusses the role of community in the Caribbean literature. It explains that several Caribbean theorists have ignited a struggle to determine their social and political identity against the practices of dispossession, ahistoricization, and disenfranchisement. It examines that this communal imperative has been noted in the French speaking Caribbean where liberationist discourses have emerged.
