- Abstract
This study mainly explores the experiences and the process of the children from single-parent families growing up, receiving education and interacting with the opposite sex. This study was conducted through interviews to gather data and information from the research subject, a female educator raised in a single-parent family. The results are divided into two parts. First, the growth process and love story; second, the significant attachment patterns in the life of the research subject. The first part, the growth process and love story, is composed of: (1) the growth process (along the way), (2) the cause of the single parent background (the moment of change), (3) living with relatives (why don’t you go back to your own home ?), (4) teenage rebellion (get lost), (5) the process of becoming a teacher (the route to education), (6) the relationship with mother (of love and contradiction), (7) intimacy in love (college romance), (8) attitude towards marriage (about getting married). The second part, the significant attachment patterns in the life of the research subject, is composed of: (1) attachment and intimacy in the relationship with the mother (closely with mother), (2) attachment and intimacy in the relationship with the opposite sex (to embrace and to give in love), (3) The varying attachment and intimacy patterns in relationships of different kinds (one of a kind). This is also a story of a female teacher from a disadvantaged background trying to handle and to evolve both her relationships with others and with herself.
