The article focuses on indeterminate fate of sunspots in economics and the history of macroeconomics. Topics discussed include schools of thought dominating macroeconomics including rational expectations and Keynesian econometrics, statistical relationship between inflation and real output and possibility that active monetary policy was efficient. It mentions standard overlapping generation models and allowed for welfare-improving public intervention.
