- Abstract
This article presents a case report of a 35-year-old man who had a ten year history of a recurrent non-specific dermatitis occurring on various aspects of the extremities, trunk and genitals. With each flare, he was given a commercial topical steroid preparation which varied in strength from mild to potent. After using the medication, he noted worsening of his dermatitis. He then frequently required short courses of oral prednisone to resolve the dermatitis. The patient was first patch tested with Finn Chambers for two days to the commercial topical steroids he had used and then to the steroid and non-steroid components of these commercial preparations.
