- Abstract
The lyrics journals (majmuas) are one of the most important references in Musicology. Lyrics majmuas are included in the classical literature study areas because from one perspective they represent historical musicology and they have the attributes of being historical documents. From another perspective they contain theoretical subjects and poetic texts as part of systematic musicology and thus assume the identity of inter-disciplinary study. The word majmua means works of different sizes and from different texts that have been put together (compiled). Some of these majmuas which contain verse and prose articles have been studied by researchers while there is another section that is still awaiting attention of researchers on the dusty shelves of libraries. Researchers have stated that the number of lyric majmuas amounts to hundreds. This research investigates one of the important majmuas waiting for the attention of researchers. The majmua in question is in the Mevlâna Museum Library, Gölpınarlı Manuscripts, Number 81. The work studied starts with the Rast Makam and ends with Hüzzam. The work contains compositions of many composers from Itrî, Hâfız and Bekir Ağa to Müezzin Çelebi. It is considered that this aspect of the work represents an important reference for researchers in this field and that a study of this work is an important step in bringing the work to the focus of contemporary literature.
