- Abstract
The article explores the opening of missionary work in Brazil in the context of theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It examines the influence of perceptions of Church leaders and members towards southern Europeans and persons of African descent on the decision to work with German immigrants. Also discussed is the impact of LDS Church President Reinhold Stoof's mandate to proselyte to German speakers by sending Mormon missionaries to Brazil.
