- Abstract
The article discusses the patriarchal blessings bestowed upon the saints of Nauvoo, Illinois, by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) presiding patriarch William Smith during his tenure in 1845. It also examines objections to Smith's authority following the assassinations of his brothers Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith. It discusses the historical and social significance of the blessings and debates within the church in Nauvoo.
