An editorial is presented on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Topics discussed include the incidence of NAFLD-related HCC as compared to that of hepatitis C virus (HCV)- and hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC; the calculation of population attributable fraction (PAF), the proportion of cases of the disease that can be prevented by avoiding the underlying risk factor disease (such as NAFLD); and the relationship between cirrhosis and HCC.
