- Title
Mau/Lux/Westheuser: Triggerpunkte.
- Abstract
The article "Trigger Points" by Steffen Mau, Thomas Lux, and Linus Westheuser examines the thesis of a polarized society. The authors develop the concept of inequality arenas in which various lines of conflict occur. These include socio-economic distribution conflicts, controversies surrounding migration, territorial access and inclusion, conflicts of identity politics and recognition, and environmental inequalities. The authors emphasize that society is not divided, but rather specific conflicts are fought out in different arenas. It is noted that differentiations within the population in Germany are less stable and more mobile, particularly in terms of educational qualifications and professional positions. The book offers a comprehensive analysis of the current social climate and is considered one of the most elaborate discussions of social inequalities and conflicts in Germany.
