- Abstract
This article discusses a case of disseminated sporotrichosis with pulmonary involvement in an immunocompromised man. Sporotrichosis is a chronic infection caused by fungi from the genus Sporothrix, with the cutaneous lymphatic form being the most common presentation. Disseminated sporotrichosis is rare and typically occurs in individuals with chronic pulmonary disease, alcohol abuse, diabetes mellitus, sarcoidosis, or immunocompromised states. Pulmonary sporotrichosis can present as primary pulmonary disease or as part of multifocal sporotrichosis in immunocompromised patients. The article emphasizes the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis to prevent inappropriate treatment and improve patient prognosis.
