- Abstract
The article discusses the application of systemic functional linguistics (SFL) in English language teaching, specifically in the context of China. It emphasizes the importance of critical cross-cultural literacy (CCCL) and the relationship between identity construction and linguistic coding. The authors propose the concept of individuation and validate the classification of identities from the perspective of identity negotiation. The article also introduces an appraisal system aligned with the SFL framework and provides valuable insights for evaluating classroom discourse strategies. While the study offers valuable contributions to English language education, further research is needed to validate its findings.
