- Abstract
The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a psychological approach frequently used at the present time, and it is of great acceptance in the medical academic community. Neuropsychology is a recent area with great links on new discoveries regarding assistance to individuals who have suffered some cerebral insult. This article is based in information of the World Health Organization which presents high indexes of people bearers of sequels in the central nervous system, caused by modern life and other habits that can cause cerebral insults. To understand the relationship between Neuropsychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy the present work approaches concepts of: Neuropsychology, Neuropsychological Rehabilitation, Neuropsychological Assessment, Frontal Lobe and its functions, executive functions, some types of cerebral insult, concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the use of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Neuropsychology. The article aims at to approach the contributions of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the treatment and evaluation of individuals who suffered a cerebral insult, in the frontal lobe, area of the executive functions. It is concluded that the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an appropriate psychological approach to assist individuals who have suffered some cerebral insult.
