- Abstract
The article offers the author's views on the social and instructional value of oral texts for children. He explores the culture categorization of such texts in the Ugandan oral tradition, which he says to differ to those from the Western tradition. He discusses the role of audience dynamics and the performance of such texts in order to classify and understand their oral forms. He mentions examples of Ugandan children's songs that are used to guide children in counting and dramatize information.
