- Authors

- Abstract
The article focuses on the fees and commission ethical standard that should be followed by health professionals, based on the Ethical Rules of the Health Professions Council. It mentions that medical schemes in South Africa are already overpowering the provisions of healthcare. It states that direct payment involve only a contractual relationship between the patient and their medical scheme rather than between the doctor and the scheme. It says that one situation which can consider a doctor breaking the ethical rule is when a he or she change the treatment habits and based it on the capacity of the patient to pay the medical scheme.
