The article offers information on the legal significance to authorization of a guardian's statutory power to initiate a divorce on behalf of his or her ward. It discusses the circumstances needed for appointing a guardian as well as different kinds of guardianship appointments under the guardianship laws of the U.S. It recommends a statue for protecting the ward from both spousal and guardian abuse.
