- Authors
Chiplin Jr., Alfred J.; Lilly, Bethany J.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the quality and cost challenges of Medicare programs for elderly people and also evaluates the resolutions to such challenges following the U.S. Affordable Care Act (ACA). It informs that the cost related challenges pertaining to the health care system development involve high medical costs, loss of personal income, and indirect costs of illness to society. It reflects that the ACA provides a changed payment structure for private Medicare programs to abate overpayments. It also depicts that the Act provides guidelines to ameliorate coordination of care and quality of care, encompassing reduced hospital readmissions.
