Gender and risk factors for initiation into injection drug use.
- Authors
Wood, Evan
- Abstract
The article comments on the paper "The gendered context of initiation to injecting drug use: evidence for women as active initiates," by J. Bryant and C. Treloar. The study examined potential differences in first injecting experiences among male and female drug users in New South Wales and Queensland. The study confirmed that women who initiate injecting are often more likely to have a partner who injects and are often more likely to have a partner who obtained the drugs and injected them.
