- Abstract
Because of the elimination policy of the German history, no history of the Eastern Prussia was produced during the Soviet times. Books about the Prussian history published before 1992 were of poor quality. A new generation of the Kaliningrad inhabitants with strong local identity emerged at the end of the 20th century. Demands for the regional history grew and some attempts to write the history of Prussia were made. In the 21st century, textbooks The History of the Western Russia were prepared according to the project financed and supported by the Russian Federation's central administration. Although the textbooks have certain shortcomings, they are used to teach the history of the region.
