- Abstract
The article examines the use of guilt by association by regulatory and licensing agencies to hold employees or applicants liable for any associations they have with organized crime members or career criminals. Topics discussed include history of guilt by association in the U.S, McCarthyism and civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) cases, and defenses employees may employ to fight a revocation of a license or registration due to a harmless association.
