- Title
Beyond survival.
- Authors
RAVN, H. B.; ANDERSEN, H. H.
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the discrepancy between the number of organs available and the number of potential recipients awaiting an organ transplant. They contend that the use of non-heart-beating donation (NHBD) was the only acceptable way of performing organ donation during the 1970s. They suggest that both the population and donor families must have confidence that life-saving treatment has been prioritized and survival of the patient is no longer a possibility.
