- Abstract
In this paper is shown the monitoring of three years of group intervention for young people with intellectual disability from a child welfare institution of the commune of Talca. The intervention had the purpose of promoting personal development of young people to make them possible to integrate into diverse social contexts, take part in the community, and also increase the knowledge of their selfs and interpersonal relations. This experience demonstrated to be an instance of meeting and learning, where they could promote cognitive abilities, in addition to improving his communication, self-control and handling of the impulsiveness. It is important the development of more investigation on the effectiveness of group intervention for people with disabilities, to trust in the group's own experience and in their abilities.
