Nasal Septal Abscess in an Immunocompromised Adult: A Case Report.

- Abstract
Objective: This is a case report to discuss on nasal septal abscess in adult without apparent primary cause. Nasal septal abscess in adult is uncommon and immunocompromised state of patient such as poorly controlled diabetes mellitus can be the cause of illness. We are also highlighting the importance of immediate treatment and its expected complications. Design: Retrospective case note analysis and follow up of the case. Materials and Methods: Review of the patient's case note, follow up photos and investigation result was made. Results: A patient diagnosed nasal septal abscess received immediate surgical treatment, developed recurrent abscess within a week. Consequently, she developed septal perforation and saddle nose deformity as complication of nasal septal abscess. Conclusion: Nasal septal abscess is a rhinology emergency that necessitates urgent surgical management to prevent serious cosmetic deformity and potential life threatening complications. Immunocompromised state is one of the risk factor of nasal septal abscess.
