- Abstract
The article focuses on contributions of French fur trappers and traders in opening trade routes and personal connections with Santa Fe, New Mexico and other locations on the Mexican frontier. It mentions fur trade under both countries' jurisdiction and how, following Mexico's independence from Spain and particularly under the administration of Bartolomé Baca, the fur trade initially thrived under the new government. It also mentions mineral resources of its colonies and peltry for decades.
