- Title
Oxytocin Influence on the Nucleus of the Solitary Tract: Beyond Homeostatic Regulation.
- Authors
Karelina, Kate; Norman, Greg J.
- Abstract
The article presents the authors' perspective on the study about the cellular mechanisms by which hypothalamic oxytocin projections enhance visceral afferent transmission to the nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS). They assert that the data presented in the study have broad significance and may spark new interests in the NTS among neuroscientists. They contend that the findings in the study indicates a novel pathway through which oxytoxin may influence anxiety and other complex behaviors.
