- Title
Data storage: The third plasmonic revolution.
- Authors
O'Connor, Daniel; Zayats, Anatoly V.
- Abstract
The article discusses research study on the combination of methods for increasing data-storage densities. It deals with increasing magnetic hard disk drives (HDDs) capacity through the combination of the plasmonic near-field tranducers method and the bit-patterned magnetic materials. New approaches for information storage include the energy-assisted magnetic recording also known as heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) or thermally assisted magnetic recording (TAR).
