The article discusses the history of Muslim religious life and mosques in Canada by examining the architecture of the Al-Rashid mosque in Fort Edmonton Park, Alberta, the Assuna-Annabawiyah mosque in Montreal, Quebec, and the Baitul Islam mosque in Vaughan, Ontario. Topics mentioned include the difference between purpose-built mosques and those in remodeled buildings, the impact of the ban on graven images on mosque decoration, and the way in which marginalized sects like the Ahmadiyya can find mainstream acceptance in Canada.
